Join Hannah Waen, an ICF-certified coach and Equine-Assisted Educator, for bi-monthly self-care meet-ups at EQuus Insight in Washoe Valley.
Since she was 6, horses have held a special place in Hannah’s heart. They were her consistent source of “therapy” before she had words to describe their healing power. As a professional coach, Hannah now understands why horses are a powerful antidote to stress, anxiety, fear, and overwhelm, and she wants to share their wisdom with others.
With stress levels rising due to politics, climate change, war, and human rights issues, it's the perfect time to create a safe space where horses and humans can connect in a peaceful environment with the majestic mountains as a backdrop for reflection. To keep fighting for the world, we want to see; we must first learn to take care of ourselves.
Using Equine-Assisted Learning principles, mindset, meditation, and coaching strategies to guide us, each self-care meet-up will take place on the ground without riding and will focus on inner resilience and strength, not horsemanship. Each self-care session will be customized based on who attends and what’s on their minds. Horses teach us to be present, slow down, and feel the energy around us. It is through conversation with them that we can unlock our inner strength.
Following our group session, participants are welcome to find a quiet corner for journaling, walk in the nearby open space, or sit in a sunny chair to meditate. You can claim whatever you need to ground yourself and inspire action after each session.
This event is hosted in partnership with EQuus Insight and may occasionally feature guest facilitators like Melinda Blackwell and Fran Melino. The private property is in Washoe Valley, a short drive from Reno or Carson City. All participants must sign a waiver and wear closed-toed shoes (boots are best). This event is for adults, but mature children are welcome with prior approval.
This series is open to all who need time to reflect, ground, or heal and for those seeking a deeper connection to nature, community, and animals. We do not discriminate; all sexes, genders, and identities are welcome. Each workshop is limited to 12 people, so please sign up in advance.
There is a suggested donation of $20, but all are welcome regardless of financial means. Please register to reserve your spot and receive follow-up details and directions.
